Dental Crowns and Bridges in Wilmslow

Porcelain crowns to protect weak or broken teeth, and bridges to replace a missing one. From £750, with the full cost in writing before we start.

Croft Dental at 64 Manchester Road in Wilmslow provides porcelain crowns from £750 and dental bridges from £750 per unit. Restorative dentistry is led by Dr Natasja Kashyap, who holds an MSc in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics. Crowns protect teeth weakened by large fillings, cracks or root canal treatment, and bridges replace missing teeth by attaching to the teeth either side. Implant options are also available, and costs are confirmed in writing before treatment.

So, does the tooth really need a crown?

Not always, and you should be told why if it does.

A crown covers the whole visible part of a tooth. That means shaping the tooth to make room for it, so it’s a decision worth getting right.

We recommend one when a filling won’t hold up on its own. The usual reasons are a tooth that has cracked, a filling so large that the remaining walls are thin, or a back tooth that has had root canal treatment and become brittle.

In each case the crown holds the tooth together and spreads the biting force, so the tooth doesn’t split.

If a large filling or bonding would do the job instead, we’ll say so. Keeping natural tooth is always the starting point.

How a crown is made and fitted

  • Assessment and x-rays: we check the root and the bone around the tooth first. A crown on an unhealthy root is money wasted.
  • Preparing the tooth: under local anaesthetic, the tooth is shaped to make space for the crown.
  • Impressions or a digital scan: an accurate record of the tooth goes to the dental laboratory, along with the shade we’ve matched to your teeth.
  • A temporary crown: protects the tooth while the permanent one is made.
  • Fitting: the permanent crown is tried in, the fit checked, and then cemented in place.
  • Checking your bite: we adjust until your teeth meet comfortably and evenly.

Replacing a missing tooth with a bridge

  • How a bridge works

A bridge fills a gap by attaching a false tooth to crowns on the teeth either side. It’s fixed in place, so it doesn’t come out like a denture.

  • When it makes sense

A bridge works best when the neighbouring teeth already have large fillings or crowns, because shaping them does little extra harm. If those teeth are healthy and untouched, an implant is often the kinder option.

  • Bridge or implant?

A single dental implant replaces the root as well as the tooth and leaves the neighbours alone. A bridge is usually quicker and costs less at the outset. We’ll set the two side by side at your consultation.

Where several teeth are missing, implant bridges are another option.

How long do crowns and bridges last?

Looked after well, many last for years. Three things make the biggest difference:

  • Cleaning around the edges every day, and under a bridge with floss or interdental brushes.
  • Regular check ups and hygiene appointments, so problems at the margins are caught early.
  • Protecting them at night with a night guard if you grind your teeth.

Thinking about whitening?

Do it before the crown or bridge is made. Porcelain won’t change colour once it’s fitted, so it’s matched to your teeth as they are at the time. If you’re planning teeth whitening, mention it at your consultation and we’ll plan the order.

Where to find us

Croft Dental sits at 64 Manchester Road, on the Handforth side of Wilmslow town centre. Coming up from The Carrs, we are north east along Manchester Road. If you reach Handforth Dean, you have gone too far.

We are around ten minutes on foot from Wilmslow station, five minutes from Handforth, and roughly ten minutes from Alderley Edge up the A34.

Patients register with us from Alderley Edge, Handforth, Styal, Prestbury, Mottram St Andrew, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Poynton, Mobberley, Bramhall and Cheadle.

For routine care, proximity genuinely matters. A practice you can get to easily is a practice you will actually attend, and over twenty years that is worth considerably more than any individual treatment. If you have recently moved to the area, registering with a dentist is one of the more easily forgotten jobs on the list. It takes a phone call.

Spread the cost of treatment with finance or dental plan

We offer finance on larger treatment plans through Tabeo so the cost can be spread across monthly payments. Interest-free options are available with no arrangement fees or hidden charges.

For routine examinations and hygiene appointments, our practice plan is generally the more sensible route, spreading the cost across fixed monthly payments instead.

Register with Croft Dental as a New Patients

We warmly welcome new patients to our practice. If it’s been a while since your last visit, if dental visits make you feel anxious, if you’ve recently moved to Wilmslow, or if you’re simply seeking a team that truly listens to your concerns, you’ll find a supportive and gentle environment here with us.

During your first appointment, we take the time to conduct a complete evaluation of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. We will listen carefully to your goals, answer any questions, and collaboratively create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

Frequently asked questions

Porcelain crowns at Croft Dental start from £750. Your written treatment plan confirms the exact cost before any work begins.

Bridges start from £750 per unit. A bridge replacing one tooth usually has three units, the false tooth and a crown on each side, so it would start from around £2,250.

The tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. The tooth can feel a little sensitive for a few days afterwards, which usually settles on its own.

Usually two. The first prepares the tooth and fits a temporary crown, and the second fits the permanent crown once it's back from the laboratory.

It depends on the teeth either side of the gap. If they already have large fillings or crowns, a bridge can make sense. If they're healthy, an implant avoids shaping them. We'll compare both at your consultation.

No. Porcelain keeps the shade it was made in. If you want whiter teeth, have them whitened first and the crown matched to the new shade.

Yes. Finance through Tabeo is available on treatment over £500, with interest free options. We'll show you the monthly cost at your consultation.
